Ever wondered if dogs love music? As a matter of fact, they do. In 2010 an artist Laurie Anderson performed a concert only for them in Sydney, Australia. Psychologist Deborah Wells of Queens University in Belfast examined the reactions of dogs to various types of music and concluded that dogs actually might just enjoy music.

Dogs enjoy classical music and do not seem to enjoy heavy metal music at all because it agitates them. Popular music or human conversations in radio talk shows also do not show any marked difference in behavior. Classical music does have a calming effect on dogs but if played on a regular basis, it might start to bore them as they become used to it. According to dog owners, soft rock and reggae seems to be the best music for dogs. According to one research, dogs in shelters bark less and lie down more when music is played. Dog oriented music is becoming a new genre and some companies have started producing dog music. Many dog owners want to play their dog’s favorite music at their pet’s funeral.
